Step back in history, the Crystal Farm Compound is located just 15 minutes from Carbondale and a mile from Redstone. This is one of Colorado’s Gold Medal Scenic Roads. Drive along the Crystal River past the old historic Coke ovens and cross over the river into the Crystal Farm Stone gates. Crystal Farm Compound has been with the same family for over 40 years. As you enter the stone covered entry you feel as if you have been transported back into the early family compounds of the Adirondack era. Originally built in the 1890’s as part of the Cleveholm Manor, it was built as the private residence to the Redstone Castle owner Cleveland Osgood. Osgood built Cleveholm Manor (Redstone Castle) for himself and from which he ran his “Empire” of coal and steel, railroads and guests- the likes of Teddy Roosevelt, JP Morgan, John D. Rockefeller and others. He wanted that Old World Charm to stand out in his home as he built a model town for the coal miners who would live like gentlemen. The stone patterns used on the Castle were derived and practiced on the farm house by Italian stone masons and later applied to the construction of the Manor. The old Ice House was converted into a charming one bedroom guest house with two fireplaces. Ask us about our monthly rates.
